Buy Nikon L110 Camera - A Closer Look
With so many new cameras coming out onto the market these days, trying to decide whether you should buy Nikon L110 can really leave you in a confused state. If you’re anything like me, you can definitely appreciate a great camera but sometimes may not even know what you are looking for. Knowing what features to focus on will really help you narrow down your choices and shorten the decision time. When camera shopping, I found that I finally settled on the Nikon L110, and I’ll tell you why you should buy Nikon L110.
The Nikon L110 had a predecessor that came before it, the L100, but this model really made quite a few improvements. The Nikon brand is a good brand overall, so I felt comfortable putting my trust in their cameras. Being a hands-on person, I spent some time trying to get a “feel” for various cameras. The first thing I noticed about the Nikon L110 is that it is a comfortable weight and not too clunky. Though the shape of the L110 may look a bit large and chunky, it is actually very easy to hold. The craftsmanship is excellent, and you can even find the camera in various colors.
Buy Nikon L110 Camera - An Upgraded View
The L110 model has been upgraded to include a 12 megapixel resolution with its wide angle lens. I found that my pictures had good resolution, especially for outdoor photos. The 15x zoom also comes in handy when snapping close-ups of flowers or other nature settings. Personally, the resolution was one of the more important features as I love to capture the local flowers in bloom during spring-time.
Another feature that I found helpful was the increased resolution on the LCD screen. I am all for not having to squint into a tiny viewfinder to see the subjects of my photos, and the 3-inch LCD screen eliminates any kind of squinting. If you prefer to have the optical viewfinder, you will find that it is an easy adjustment to get used to the LCD screen. You can get a clearer picture of what you are looking at and the image adjustment options are clear and easy to navigate.
Buy Nikon L110 Camera - Clear Choices for Resolution
So on the topic of resolution; I feel I should address the image options on the Nikon L110. While browsing through the options for the image settings, I found up to 15 total scene modes to choose from. It’s really all about selection here! There are less buttons to fiddle with than you’d find on other cameras and this can be a blessing if you tend to be an accidental button-pusher. I’ve had that experience before and it can get pretty frustrating. If I want to browse through the menu of options, I can view them on the LCD screen.
The Nikon L110 already has image stabilization, which Nikon dubs “VR” or “vibration reduction.” I found this to be very effective when trying to take pictures without distortions. I tend to have difficulties with keeping my hands completely still, and if you have the same problem then you will be able to empathize with me here. Sometimes this issue causes pictures to come out a bit skewed and distorted, with extra “visual noise” which forces you to have to take the picture all over again. And if you are taking pictures of children, you know they won’t stay put very long!
The motion detection feature was also great for cutting down on “camera shake.” The L110 has this feature built in to help with the shutter speed when you’re dealing with fast-moving subjects like sports games. Parents will definitely appreciate this when taking pictures at their kid’s sporting events. You know they are not going to pause for you to take a snapshot, so you want to make sure that the camera you are using is equipped to handle fast-moving scenes.
Along with the motion detection, you can also use the BSS, or “Best Shot Selector,” which takes a series of pictures in sequential order and automatically detects the one with the best resolution. I tested this out with at one of my nieces’ indoor soccer games one day, and I was definitely impressed. I was able to take clear pictures even though the soccer players were running around at break-neck speeds!
Finally, one of the most positive features for me was the “auto mode.” This mode allowed me to point and shoot without having to worry about changing the image resolution options every time. The easy auto mode feature works for a majority of the photos I take, but I did find that I prefer to turn it off if I’m zooming in on something.
Buy Nikon L110 Camera - HD For You and Me
So by now, you know that the Nikon L110 is a pretty good choice for pictures, but what about the video features? Most cameras now have video capture capabilities built in to give consumers the option to take short videos. I was never really interested in recording videos but my interest was definitely piqued when I started to play around with the L110’s HD movie recording features.
In case you haven’t already checked out the L110’s specs, you are supposed to be able to record up to 7 hours of HD footage; though I did find out that the longest you can record in one session is up to 29 minutes. I seriously doubt I’ll need to record that much video footage in one shot, but I felt it was an important note to make. There’s a microphone on top of the camera that records the sound for your movies. It’s a pretty decent microphone and catches quite a bit of sound.
The movie recording feature works the best in outdoor settings or well-lit areas. Remember that you are not getting a camera that is designed primarily to capture video, so there may be some limitations as far as image quality in low-light settings. If you are not shopping for a video recording device then you will not mind this at all.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this camera to others, and would even purchase it again for myself. The Nikon L110 has really made its place as a “bridge” camera, meaning it’s more advanced than the normal “point-and-shoot” simple cameras, but not as advanced as the higher-end cameras. For those who are not professional photographers, advanced features are definitely not required. This also helps cut down on extra complicated options that sometimes just get in the way. I will continue to keep my trust in the Nikon brand as a satisfied customer, and hope you find the same, if not higher, level of satisfaction.
